Pinnacles Classic – Sat 9th April 2011
As the skies cleared over Brisbane, a record field of 71 runners & walkers descended on Brisbane Forest Park for the annual task of conquering 18 hills in 18kms. With hills nicknamed like “The Mother” it was going to be a tough run! The pain and then the joy could be seen on the runners faces as they crossed the finish line. It’s runs like these that people remember most!
Run in the anticlockwise direction, the first and second runners home broke the old race record. Dave Coombs was first male home in 1:20:50, Benjamin Duffus second in 1:22:55 & Seung Gil Hong third in 1:26:43. First female home was Hubertien Wichers in 1:43:18, second across the line was Mandy-Lee Noble in 1:44:38 & rounding out the place getters was Abigail Griffin in 1:51:16.
A big thank-you to Race Director Peter Holles who once again put on a terrific event with well marked trails, BBQ & drinks. Also thanks to Ian Javes, Steve Marton & Martin Lentz for help at the start/finish line, Grant Cooper for checkpoint setup (sshh..we won’t tell anyone you got lost on the way back) & to Signe Riemer-Sorenson & co as course sweepers.

What a great day, great race and great photos up on website! Thank you to all the race organisers – I look forward to helping out again at next year’s event, while my men slog it out on the course!
