Geography Of Huntsville

Some of the most beautiful sights of the Appalachian Mountains can be found in the foothills of Huntsville, Alabama. Just as the mountains begin to trail off and give way to more moderate hills and valleys, the city can be found. Tons of beautiful natural wooded regions and hill spots make up a majority of Huntsville’s geography.

Right next door is the Tennessee River, which offers runners a stunning view of nature and wildlife. Plenty of running trails run right along the side of this stunning river with more than enough access to camping spots and hiking destinations. With the natural beauty of Huntsville, you might find yourself going on runs just to enjoy the sights they have to offer.

Easy Trails

One easy trail that we cannot recommend enough is the John Hunt Park trail. It’s a cross-country specialty that offers an easy path to follow and some great views of the city itself. Just because the region’s natural beauty is so great doesn’t mean you should skip out on enjoying the town itself.

Indian Creek Greenway and the Bradford Creek Greenway offer some amazing paved running trails for people to follow. They’re simple runs but some of the best spots to get your exercise in.

More Difficult Trails

The Hays Nature Preserve might be the gem of Huntsville. This trail gives you direct access to some of the most beautiful sights to see in the region. It takes you throughout the surrounding forests and places you right on the banks of the Tennessee River. It’s a stunning nature trail that allows you to pick and choose your path type.
