2011 Changes: Field will increase to 75 for 2011 onwards.

Online entries open Wed 6 July at 7pm, and close Sat 15 Oct midnight. If you miss out, don’t despair though; weekend events have a high drop-out rate and last year we managed to place everyone on the waitlist. Please email info@runtrails.org to join the waitlist if you miss online entry (confirmed entries and waitlist are shown at the bottom of this page).

Important:
1. This is a two-day event, and we prefer entrants to run both days. Our planning is for runners covering the Border Track over on Saturday, back on Sunday – so if you run one day only, you need to organise your own transfers.
2. Accommodation is limited, so if you’re not joining us in the bunkhouse (payable with your online entry), book your lodge/safari tent/camping accomodation as soon as your entry is accepted.

Race program: here
Race entry is $60 including both days and lunchs
Bunkhouse is $60 for either or both days including breakfasts
Online entry: here

About the Lamington Classic

Each year I’m amazed how many people talk about wanting to run at Lamington, but can’t organise a weekend off! Forget the chores and enjoy the whole experience with a week-end on the best trails in South-East Queensland. Whether you stay in the Eco-lodge bunkhouse, or book your own cabin, safari tent or campsite and join us in the lodge and cafe in the evenings, you’ll have a great weekend. All your transfers and meals are arranged, you can sit around the fire at night and swap stories – now that’s how to spend a weekend.

Ideally, leave work early on Friday, and stay two nights (no extra cost if staying in the bunkhouse). You get two brilliant runs (21.8k each way), your breakfasts and lunches for $60, a two course meal/prizegiving at Binna Burra’s new cafe on Saturday night for $28, and accommodation in the Eco-lodge bunkhouse for $60 whether its one or both nights including breakfasts. Bunkhouse rooms take up to 9 but we book no more than 4 in each, so if you organise a group you can snaffle a room just for you and your friends. Or book your own accommodation choice at Binna Burra, from camping to low-cost permanent ‘safari tents’ with matresses, to luxury cabins-with-a-view.

We also encourage clubs and friends to organise a team of three; the team competition has a long history – this is the 42nd Lamington Classic! – and it adds to the fun for you.

Details will be emailed out to entrants. Now, here are reports from other Lamington trails weekends to fire you up…

Am I correct in assuming that there will be no aid stations for this event? In otherwords, will there be water provided for the runners at any point along the course?

  4. admin July 6th, 2011 7:25 pm

Yes this is a remote national park trail, with no way to carry bulk water in. Most runners choose to carry some water, but some do not. Remember, the rainforest and altitude makes it a relatively cool run (be prepared gear-wise as it can be quite cold on windy, misty or wet days). Except in extremely dry weather there is usually some water at creeks around half way.

    Can you elaborate on transfers
we are camping independently at binna burra Fri and Sat
does our driver drop as at cunungra?
    Thanks

Hi Peter – those of us staying Friday have plenty of time then to arrange the easiest possible sharing of cars; your overnight gear is already in the right place, so all will be well… Assuming your group is all runners ie no non-running partners we’ll take your cars to Canungra Saturday and leave them at O’Reillys ready for you to pick up Sunday after running over. Gear goes over in trailers. If you have partners they can either drive to O’Reillys Sunday for prizegiving, or if they want to avoid the drive up, meet you at a pre-arranged time in Canungra.

I’ve managed to register successfully for the run, but did not book accommodation (as I was waiting to hear my registration was successful). How do I book accommmodation on-line without going through the whole registration process again?
    Thanks

Because there are meals and accommodation with this event, and runners often enter first then think of those later, we add an entry option of “$0 – add options”. The entrant can select that, then go back through the options and pay for extras.

We’d love to come as a family. Both parents would like to run but one parent will need to child-mind each day. This is a bit cheeky: can we enter as one but run a day each? Sincerely, A

  10. admin August 11th, 2011 7:22 pm

Absolutely. Most entrants aim to have a good run, but not really race. Good to see a couple sharing childcare and running :-)

Hey, I’m on the waitlist but interested in the training run tomorrow mentioned in the email, just wondering if anyone else is going to be there?
