Lamington Classic - 25,26 Oct 2008

100_1399.jpg

Update: Entries closed Friday 26 Sept as we reached our 50 limit, but…
We are keeping a waitlist (see below, after confirmed entries) - inevitably a few drop out due to injury, however it looks likely that the best option will be to run the Sunday leg only; you could still join the whole weekend though, doing a nice day run from Binna Burra Saturday, and BB-O’Reillys Sunday. We will advise final options two weeks out from the event.
To join the waitlist, email Digger at extra@ausgeo.net

About the Lamington Classic

Each year I’m amazed how many people talk about wanting to run at Lamington, but can’t organise a weekend off! Forget the chores and enjoy the whole experience with a week-end on the best trails in South-East Queensland. Leave early Friday, try the excellent pizzas at Beechmont on the way up, swap stories round the fire at night - now that’s how to spend a Friday…

You get two brilliant runs (21.8k each way), your breakfasts and lunches for $45, a meal/prizegiving at Binna Burra’s new cafe on Saturday night for $25, and two nights accommodation in the Eco-lodge bunkhouse for $40.

Bunkhouse rooms take up to 6 and generally aren’t full, so if you organise a group you can snaffle a room just for you and yours friends. Or book your own accommodation choice at Binna Burra, from camping to luxury cabins-with-a-view.

We also encourage clubs and friends to organise a team of three; the team competition has a long history - this is the 37th year of the Lamington Classic! - and it adds to the fun for you.

Details are in the entry form here here (but don’t post any more in we’re full; see above), online entry is closed, and here is a report from January’s Lamington Trails Weekend to fire you up.

Bruce & Greg - Just a brief request to find out if Lyn Fulton’s and my entries were received prior to today (i.e. Are we in this year’s Lamington Classic ?) I will try to ring again too. Thanks, yours in the long run, Steel.

How do we sign up for breakfasts and lunches- didnt see that on original entry form? Also is there drinking water available on the course? Is there a schedule of start times etc.
Also- I entered a team for Intraining including rachel Waugh who is on the wait list- could we add Steve hancox and Peter watson to that team instead?
    very excited

Breakfasts and lunches are included in entry, but if you have special preferences you may wish to bring extras. Start times are on the entry, downloadable above. There is no water on the course; its generally cool in the rainforest at this time of year. Also, the border track is remote and checkpoints a bit intrusive in a national park, so its carry your own if you need water. Team changes and teams formed when we meet at Canungra are fine.

On the waitlist: sorry, we are full, including the bunkhouse. The only option for people to participate will be to book camping at Binna Burra and do day runs, which at least allows you to enjoy the atmosphere and a casual run during the day. We can add extras for the Saturday dinner if notified. An email will go out to all on the waitlist shortly. Sat 18th Oct.
