Membership
Our aim is to organise more running events on Queensland trails. There are so many great locations but very few races and we’d like to change that.
If you’d like to support us, join online here or download and post this form traqmembership10.pdf (membership form plus 2010 calendar of events on back).
Membership fees are $30 (or $45 for families), giving you to a 10% discount on entries and helping us to deliver more events. Helping at events is also a great way to give something back. More helpers mean more events. Plus when you volunteer for any 2009 event, you get an event entry free up to $50.
Please nominate one event you can help out at when you pay your membership. Most jobs are easy and you a good way to get to know your fellow runners better too - some, like course marking or demarking, still let you run on the day.
Who is TRAQ?
You! The membership sets our priorities at the Annual General Meeting and, through volunteering occasionally, makes events possible. You’ll also notice occasional survey questions like “where would you most like to see a new trail run” slipped into online entries, so we get some direct feedback.
Our 2010 committee is:
Ian Javes, President:
Organiser of Queensland’s largest trail series at Glasshouse Mts
Greg Waite, Vice-president:
Housing analyst, organiser of Washpool, Mt Glorious and Lake Manchester runs
Sandon Morrell:
Recently retired from the navy to be a full-time dad, and still finding time to help us
Lynn Davies, Secretary:
Moreton Bay Road Runners member and part of their Jetty to Jetty fun run team
Grant Cooper:
Busy parent, volunteer coordinator, and local helper at our new Bunyaville runs
Bruce Cook:
Organiser of the classic Mt Mee run, the man behind the Print Run list of fun runs
Ed O’Connor:
New to the committee this year

Hi TRAQuers!
I was glad to find your organisation. I used to live in Vermont, USA and did most of my running on dirt roads and tracks. I’m just getting back into running and I hate doing it on pavement!
Anyway, in addition to races, do you organise any type of training get togethers? Do you have a message board or chat room to try to connect with other people who might like company on a track run? I don’t like going out alone if I can help it…
Thanks,
Emilia
Hi Emilia
www.coolrunning.com.au is still the best place for postings about training outings, though our events page does include contacts for a couple of semi-regular trail training groups.
Cheers, Greg
Why do you discriminate against people from other states
I’am from NSW and other runners are from WA if you don’t volunteer for an event you can’t join TRAQ
Last year I didn’t compete in any QLD events down from about 5 events in previous years
Lou
Lou I’ve re-read this page and can’t see why you thought you can’t join TRAQ if you don’t volunteer. We encourage volunteers, we don’t force them!
That said, joining is mostly a means to encourage people to get involved. If you’re out of state, you probably just want to email us and join the newsletter to get the news.
