Bunya Mountains Social Running Weekend - 20/21 Mar
Most of you will already know what a great place the Bunya Mountains is to run and walk. Similar to Lamington National Park in elevation and hence summer coolness, the forest features the distinctive Bunya pines. Grant Cooper is planning a relaxed weekend with some informal running thrown in, ideal to bring along non-running partners and family.
When: Saturday 20th March – Sunday 21st March.
Where: Bunya Mountains is an isolated section of the Great Dividing Range lying about 150km from the coast. With elevation of 1100m, the air is cool and is perfect for running and walking, any time of the day.
Access: The park can be reached from Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy or for the north siders the best way is up thru Yarraman then Maidenwell. Link to map: here
Accommodation: There are plenty of houses to rent through a coordinated booking service, smaller cabins (Rices), or you could stay at one of the 3 National Park campgrounds. Dandabah is where a lot of the trails start, so we have decided to have a base at the Dandabah Campground where there are BBQ’s, Toilets and free Hot Showers.
