Bunyaville Run Sat 29 Nov - Deferred to 2009
See this link for pictures of the damage, and details of the run course. See Don’s comment below about the clean-up progress; we weren’t confident we could have a safe course by Saturday, so have deferred the event to 2009, but if you want to check out Bunyaville Don and Greg will be course-checking this Saturday 29th, starting at 4.30pm from the Bunya Sports carpark. We will also be having a catchup to discuss TRAQ 2009 plans at the Sports Centre afterwards if you want to join us.
Don was out in the forest at 5 when Sunday’s storm struck, and had to make a dash out with the dogs. He described one tree which landed on a house as not just fallen but blown apart by the wind. Depending on where the strongest winds passed, we may have to defer this run. Update after a recce run this weekend.

We have now received permits for this new run on Council trails; the 5k lakeside option is flat and 100% walking trails; the 9km adds some rougher firetrails and a steady climb for those wanting more of a workout. Places are lmited to 75 due to the small carpark, and online entry is now open. For details of this attractive lakeside location, and online entry, click here

Note: the permit for the other half of a Mapleton trails weekend, in Delicia Conservation Park and the Sunshine Coast Great Walk was again declined by the Environmental Protection Agency. A public meeting to discuss trails access issues will be held in the afternoon after the Cooloolabin run, at the Mapleton Pubic Hall. Details also at the link above.
