Permit for Mapleton run refused
After considerable efforts to find compromise courses which might be acceptable to the Environmental Protection Agency, our permit for runs at Mapleton has been refused. In our experience these trails are more than capable of accommodating both walkers and runners once a year. Instead they’re an underutilised asset. Read more

This year from September 16th to 20th, 110 teams of two took on the Colorado Rockies, covering 125 miles of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The inaugural Gore-Tex TransRockies Run course runs from Beaver Creek via Leadville to Aspen, through the heart of the White River and San Isabel National Forests.

Trevor Jacobs from Weston Creek Athletics Club on Sunday won his second world mountain running title in less than 12 months. In 2006 Jacobs won the M50 world long distance mountain running championship in the USA. Two weeks ago he finished 3rd M55 in the 2007 world long distance mountain running championship in the Jungfrau marathon in Switzerland but was disappointed with his run and concluded that he had started out too quickly. 2008 update: downgraded to a training run for 2008 due to overwork, but hopefully back and better then ever in 2009.
2007 report: The Run the Whitsunday Great Walk will be hotly contested again this year, with world champion Emma Murray returning to the Whitsundays this weekend to defend her title. She will have stiff competition from the 105 runners from around Australia who are coming to Airlie Beach to Run the Whitsunday Great Walk on Sunday. Read more
Bauple Bop Qld 12hr Rogaine Champs - Sat 22 Sep
The Qld Rogaine Association invites you to the Bauple Bop Qld 12hr Championships. The event will be held in the Bauple State Forest a little way north of Gympie. If you’re a newcomers to rogaines, its a large scale event where you choose your own route on a map within the time limit - and yes, you are welcome to less than 12 hours if you prefer! World Mountain Running Trophy Sat 15 Sept 2007 - Australian junior cross country champion Lara Tamsett from Sydney has won the World Junior Mountain Running Championship in Switzerland overnight. Canowindra’s Veronica Wallington recovered from a nasty fall while leading to finish third. The Australian team, including Lauren McKillop of Sydney, won the team’s gold medal. Read more
